If this is something you’re currently experiencing and revisiting your favourite book is not helping with the lull, try the below-mentioned tips from your in-house bibliophile.
Try A Book You Think You Won’t Like
Now, this is something that has proven successful for me in the past which is why I think it’s worth a mention. While we all have our own personal reading preferences, exploring new genres, especially the ones that initially seem unappealing or not quite your cup of tea may just be what you need to reawaken your reading fervour. The trick is to read a few chapters from several books–one of them is sure to spark your interest.
Ask For Recommendations
Nobody knows you better than your peers, so when you ask for a book recommendation you increase your chances of finding one that resonates with you. Whether done through a book club or the bokstagram community you found online, this also helps eliminate your spending time researching and browsing through countless titles to find the one.
Try A Different Format
If traditional print books aren’t doing it for you anymore, it’s a clear sign that you need to switch things up. Ditch your never-ending TBR and try a short storybook, a graphic novel or an audiobook – give yourself a fresh experience by exposing yourself to new formats until you find what works best for you.
Embrace The Slump
If you’ve been reading extensively or have been immersed in a particular genre or theme for as long as you can remember, this is your chance to just sit back and recharge your mental batteries. Unlike your love for books, reading slumps are often temporary and it’s important to realise that like everything else in the world, ‘this too shall pass’.
